Our first gift giving holiday is right around the corner, Valentine’s Day. Of course, it may look different from other Valentines, as we are all social distancing. I thought it would be fun to make an Eco Friendly Gift Giving Guide for Valentines. These are all small businesses and right now more than ever its important to support our small businesses.

Idle Talons - I’ve been working with beads as long as I can remember-- my mum says I started obsessively stringing seed beads when I was 3. When I was 7, I started selling beaded animals from a sandwich board at local markets. People like supporting an entrepreneurial little kid in pigtails. ;)
In the last couple of years, I’ve been doing much more work in stone and wire. I learned lapidary skills as soon as I met the age requirement to work in the rock shop at Crater Rock Museum. I learned some basics of wire wrapping on YouTube, then spent a long time working without looking at what other wire artists were making so I could develop my own style. I especially like starting with rough stones my family finds and turning them into a finished product!

Lion & Rose Soap - Soap is a product made from a combination of fats (or oils) and an alkali (traditionally, lye). We might sometimes call other things ‘soap’, but that’s not technically accurate. For instance, body wash is technically a detergent — it contains extra chemicals called surfactants. In addition to bar soap having more natural, bio-degradable ingredients, the minimal packaging also makes bar soap a better choice. Musi’s on Main - After years of thrifting and purchasing pre-loved things, Musi decided to make her hobby a passion. After nearly a year of searching for the perfect location, she stumbled upon a quaint, vintage storefront in the heart of old-town Tigard. In the fall of 2001 they officially signed their lease and opened up Musi's on Main, previously known as Sunshine Antiques.
